Tim Bertoch’s responsibilities include overseeing all real estate investments for CIG.  He is directly responsible for all acquisitions, joint ventures, and dispositions for the company.  Mr. Bertoch oversees an equity allocation in excess of $300 million and is responsible for developing and executing the investment allocation strategies for CIG.  Mr. Bertoch has over 20 years of experience in the real estate investment industry, including land acquisition, real estate development, construction management, asset management, and financial management responsibilities.  He has been with CIG since its founding and is a member of the company’s executive investment committee. In addition to his responsibilities with CIG, Mr. Bertoch participates in several real estate fund advisory boards and is an active member of the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC).  He is a graduate of Brigham Young University and is actively involved in his community through volunteer service in the Boy Scouts of America and other youth leadership programs.

Michael Connor, Director of Investments

Michael Connor is responsible for overall management, strategy and asset allocation of Consolidated Investment Group’s billion-dollar investment portfolio, with oversight of direct and indirect investments in fixed income, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, public and private securities as well as other alternative asset classes.

Prior to joining Consolidated Investment Group, Michael was the Treasurer of Vulcan, Inc.  During his 7 years with Vulcan he oversaw strategy, asset allocation, risk management, treasury, capital markets, and corporate finance.  Portfolio brands included:  DreamWorks, Charter Communications, Seattle Seahawks, Portland Trailblazers, Plains All American Resources, and The Sporting News.  Earlier, Michael was a Partner and Chief Financial Officer for Flatiron Partners, a New-York-City-based technology venture capital firm affiliated with JP Morgan Partners.  Michael’s responsibilities included finance, operations, and portfolio company due diligence.  Additionally, Michael advised portfolio-company Boards, CEO’s, and CFO’s on establishing operational infrastructure, developing strategic plans, and preparing companies for strategic sale or IPO.

Michael serves on the L.P. advisory boards of Grey Mountain Partners, Lazarus Investment Partners, Torch Hill Investment Partners, and Transom Capital.  He formerly served on the boards of International Catastrophe Insurance Managers, Rose City Radio, Mayfield Resources and Urbitran Corporation.  Michael began his career in financial services working for Ladenburg Thalmann & Co., E.F. Hutton, and the ICAP Group of Companies.  He holds a BS in accounting from the State University of New York.

Sue Renner, Executive Director of Merage Foundations

Sue Renner oversees the grant making and operations for the Merage Foundation and is spearheading the development of the Foundation’s Early Learning Ventures initiative to increase the stability and productivity of Colorado’s ECE sector through market-based interventions.  Prior to joining the Merage Foundation in 2006, Sue was the Executive Director of Early Childhood Connections, a non-profit corporation providing early intervention supports and services to over 1,000 infants and toddlers and their families each year in the Denver-metro region.  Sue also worked as a Senior Program Manager with the Colorado Office of Resource and Referral Agencies where she was responsible for launching Colorado’s T.E.A.C.H. program, a public-private venture to provide early care and education professionals with college scholarships.

Sue’s experience includes volunteer leadership roles with several community development, family support and early care and education organizations.  In her tenure as President of the Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council she established several new initiatives including the Developmental Surveillance Project, a successful venture to engage pediatricians and parents in the early identification of developmental delays.  Ms. Renner received her B.S. in Human Development from California Polytechnic University, and her M.S. in Child and Family Development from Colorado State University.

Juanita Belle, Vice President of Human Resources

Juanita Belle has overall responsibility for human resources.  She also serves as an internal business advisor to the company’s management team and employees.  Ms. Belle has almost 40 years of experience in human resource management and received her Certificate of Management in Human Resources from UCLA.

Prior to joining CIG, Ms. Belle was Vice President of Human Resources for Chef America, a food manufacturing company with 1800 employees that was sold to Nestle in 2002.  Her experience also includes 18 years at Arthur Andersen in Los Angeles as Director of Human Resources.

Rebecca O’Hearn, Senior Controller

Rebecca O’Hearn’s responsibilities include overseeing CIG’s financial and accounting functions. She is directly responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, tax, treasury, payroll, general accounting, and legal. Additionally, she assumes responsibility for establishing financials policies, procedures, and reporting systems. Rebecca also has responsibility for managing the Aviation Department.  The Aviation Team schedules and maintains the corporate aircraft and is International Standards for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) certified.

Prior to joining CIG Rebecca was the Director of Accounting for Starz Entertainment, a premium movie and original programming entertainment service for 10 years.    While at Starz her responsibilities included managing the day-to-day accounting function, reporting for 5 business units, and internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Prior to Starz Rebecca worked for GE Access heading up the tax department and served as the Director of Finance and Accounting for CareerTrack. She also has over 10 years of experience in public accounting working for Richey, May & CO and Karsh & CO, P.C.  in the taxation, audit, and business valuation areas.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Denver, a Master’s degree in Taxation from the University of Denver, and is a CPA. Rebecca is a member of The Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

Robert Nelson, Investment Manager

Rob Nelson’s responsibilities include the purchase and management of niche assets located in and around the Denver metropolitan area.  In addition, he actively participates in all of CIG’s due diligence activities.  Mr. Nelson is a General Partner with Insight Investment Group LLC.  Insight Investment Group is a real estate investment company and a subsidiary of CIG.  Insight Investment Group was created by CIG to focus specific efforts on niche assets in and around the Denver metropolitan area.  Mr. Nelson is responsible for all acquisitions and directs the management of mid-sized assets held by Insight Investment Group under the CIG umbrella.

Prior to joining CIG, Mr. Nelson was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Nestle Handheld Food Group, where he provided strategic direction for the development and management of $200 million of core business.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the California State University, Pomona.
