Tax Manager (Hybrid - Two days in office)
Position Purpose & Summary
CIG is seeking a Tax Manager to support tax compliance, reporting, and planning across a complex organization that includes high‑net‑worth individuals, trusts, partnerships, real estate investments, private foundations, and investment holding entities. This role partners closely with the CFO, Manager of Finance, accounting team, investment professionals, and external tax advisors to ensure accurate, timely reporting and well‑coordinated tax processes.

The position offers broad exposure to sophisticated tax matters and is designed to grow over time through structured knowledge transfer and increasing ownership. It is well suited for a technically strong Tax Manager who values collaboration, enjoys working with complex structures, and is interested in building deep expertise within a stable, well‑resourced organization where tax plays an integral role in financial and investment decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and review federal and multi‑state income tax returns for high‑net‑worth individuals, trusts, private foundations, partnerships, LLCs, real estate entities, and investment holding entities
Prepare, review, and reconcile tax workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation for use by external tax preparers
Analyze complex K‑1s, tiered partnership structures, tax basis, capital accounts, and related tax attributes
Support trust and estate tax allocations, distribution analysis, gifting activity, and estate planning coordination
Track tax impacts of investment and real estate activity, including capital gains, income, holding periods, and transaction‑level considerations
Assist with tax analysis related to real estate investments, including Opportunity Zones, 1031 exchanges, and §754 elections
Support periodic tax planning efforts, estimated tax payment coordination, and long‑term planning discussions
Serve as an internal liaison with external tax advisors, managing timelines, reviewing draft returns, and ensuring proactive compliance
Contribute to process improvements, documentation standards, and system enhancements, with increasing ownership of the tax function over time
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong analytical and technical problem‑solving abilities
High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
Collaborative communication style with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly
Interest in expanding technical depth and taking on broader responsibility
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex spreadsheets and large data sets
Experience working with accounting and reporting systems and adapting to new tools and processes
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation required
Master’s degree in Taxation preferred
CPA required
Experience Requirements
5–8 years of tax experience in public accounting or a sophisticated family office environment
Strong technical expertise in partnership taxation, trust and estate taxation, and high‑net‑worth individual tax planning
Experience with real estate investments, private equity structures, and multi‑entity ownership structures preferred
Advanced Excel skills required

Asset Management Internship

Location: Englewood, Colorado (On Site Monday-Thursday with WFH Friday)
Duration: Summer Internship (10–12 weeks)

What You’ll Be Involved In

Support the Asset Management team overseeing 7,500+ apartment units and 1.5M sq. ft. of industrial real estate
Participate in leasing calls, asset reviews, and team meetings
Assist with market research and analysis of property performance
Support financial analysis, Excel models, and portfolio reporting
Learn and work in real estate systems including Yardi, Entrata, HelloData, and REBA
Visit Denver-area apartment communities, industrial properties, and development projects
Contribute to projects that support active asset management initiatives

Director of Real Estate Acquisitions

CIG is creating a new, senior level Director of Real Estate Acquisitions role to lead and scale our expanding real estate investment platform. This is a foundational hire—designed for an experienced dealmaker who wants not only responsibility, but real ownership over strategy, sourcing, execution, and outcomes.
This position is hybrid, with an expectation of minimum two days per week in the office, balancing in person collaboration with travel to target markets.
This is not a support role. You will build and own the acquisitions’ function, with full accountability for originating and executing transactions across multifamily, industrial, distressed assets, and land, on a national basis.
The Opportunity
This newly created role offers a rare chance to design and shape an acquisition platform from the ground up within an established, well capitalized firm. You will partner closely with senior leadership and the investment committee, leveraging flexible capital, decisive execution, and institutional credibility to win deals in competitive and complex markets.
What You’ll Do
• Originate high quality investment opportunities through broker relationships, lender connections, direct owner outreach, proprietary sourcing, and market intelligence
• Identify off market and complex transactions where experience, creativity, and judgment create a competitive advantage
• Lead the full acquisition lifecycle, including sourcing, underwriting, valuation, structuring, negotiations, due diligence, financing coordination, and closing
• Drive execution certainty and deal velocity, managing risk from initial review through close
• Develop market perspectives and investment theses that guide portfolio strategy and capital deployment
• Prepare and present investment recommendations to senior leadership and the investment committee

What You Bring
• 7–10 years of acquisitions experience on the principal or institutional side, with a strong history of closed transactions
• Experience across multifamily (required), industrial, distressed assets, and land
• Advanced financial modeling and underwriting expertise, including IRR, equity multiple, cash on cash, and sensitivity analysis
• Strong understanding of capital markets and debt structures, including financing strategies and exchanges
• Demonstrated ability to independently source deals
• Proven negotiation leadership with sophisticated counterparties
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership or investment committees
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred
